IMC, a family business with a history stretching back over 100 years, was acquired by the Group in 1994, at which time IMC’s then managing director, Paul Bouscarle, joined the Group Board as Chief Executive.

IMC manufactures two categories of product: kitchen machines and bar equipment. The kitchen machines division produces a market leading range of waste disposal equipment for commercial kitchens, including an innovative, integrated system that converts food waste into high grade compost. It also manufactures potato peelers and chippers, widely used in both institutional catering and fish & chip shops.

The products within IMC’s bar equipment division include stainless steel underbar furniture and complementary glass-fronted and top-loading bottle coolers and glass frosters. IMC pioneered the use of stainless steel in bars in the 1980’s and has since exported the concept around the world.

Until December 2006, IMC operated from two factories, one in Croxley Green, Hertfordshire, the other in Wrexham, North Wales. Since January 2007 its entire operation has been consolidated into the Wrexham factory, now extended to 68,000 ft2 (6,300m2), which has been the subject of a substantial plant and machinery investment programme. In contrast to the rest of the Group, IMC has substantial export turnover, which accounts for over one third of its sales.
